surrounded by clouds

On Jesus and the Lion King and Harry Potter.

Northumbria mission continues and it’s going well (although my feet are very sore).

Today we had ‘Question in the Quad’ – “What kind of a relationship do you think God wants to have with you?” – which provoked some good conversation, and then another dinner, this time with a Harry Potter theme.

The CU students have been just so imaginative and creative with their evening events, decorating the room in such a beautiful and clever ways. I have some photos, but they really don’t do it justice.

Tonight, being that the theme was HP, we had a Platform 9 3/4 entrance, a giant spider in the web, wands and brooms, the Sorting Hat, and all of the house banners, and of course, CUGs as waiters, wearing black gowns (borrowed from Durham!).

It was a lot of fun, and I’m looking forward to seeing what we have for The Shawshank Redemption tomorrow.

Peter’s talk this evening was looking at the theme of friendship in Harry Potter, and showing that the reason we love that aspect of the films is because we all have a deep desire for true friendship, which is unattainable apart from Jesus. He spoke really well, and people seemed to connect with what he was saying. Hoping for more good chat tomorrow.

Here’s a selection of photos from the last couple of days:

Oh, and also, a moment of quiet awe, if you please. Two months of blogging every day. Yay me.

In summary: hoping the food won’t be prison-themed.
