Here in South Africa they are crazy big fans of the public holiday, and the most recent one appeared this weekend in the guise of ‘women’s day.’ The day was actually on Sunday, so they moved the holiday to Monday and we had a lovely long weekend. (I do so enjoy public holidays!)
I started my Saturday with a morning hanging out with Kim. We went to a very lovely (and very touristy) restaurant called Moyo, and sat on the balcony in the sunshine, drinking Earl Grey tea and knitting. (Which is basically heaven for me – without the perfection and dwelling with Almighty God factors, obviously.)
Then in the afternoon I went to the Gertzen’s where Natasha was enjoying her tenth birthday party. Ten pre-teen girls having a ‘pamper party’ and sleepover – quite joyful!
Sunday was church in the morning and evening, surrounded more knitting in the sunshine (enjoy the ambiguous photos of what I’m working on at the moment), and then Monday was a morning of watching old X Files episodes and an afternoon of bowling at the mall! V. retro.
All in all a lovely bonus holiday – with only one more left until I come home.
This week there’s the usual day to day of college, campus and other bits and pieces, but on Friday I’ll be heading to the Free State for our SCO national summit, followed by a week in Cape Town doing some stuff in the office. Lots of travel!
In summary: rested and enjoying the sun.
