On Remembering

Today is a day to remember.

This day has begun to mean more to me in recent years. Now I have friends who are serving in the armed forces. Friends who have served. And friends who are about to start.

So, nothing else to say except – thank you. To you who have served, and to you who are. To you who I know, and you who I don’t. And to the ones who won’t grow old. Thanks.Poppies

For the Fallen

…They went with songs to the battle, they were young,

Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.

They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,

They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall not grow old, as we who are left grow old.

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn,

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them.

Laurence Binyon.

In summary: grateful.
