surrounded by clouds

On eyes and medieval cafes.

I started my new job last week and after 3 and a half days I’m beginning to get the hang of things. I’m working part-time for a local opticians, answering phones, greeting people with my best cheery smile and other receptionist-type things.

I’m quite enjoying it so far, and last week they gave me a demonstration of the Optomap retinal imaging machine, which meant I got to have a look at a picture of the inside of my eye – which is weird, but pretty cool.

And then on Saturday I had the great joy of attending the inaugural meeting of the newest Carlisle knitting group. It got started over a discussion on Ravelry and five of us (plus a toddler) met in the beautiful medieval undercroft which is the Carlisle Cathedral cafe. Much fun, and some new knitting buddies.

I also finished the Buttony cardigan (and I do love it) a while back, but I’ve finally taken some (not very good) pictures of it:

In summary: settling in.
