On having tea with Kate at the Factory Kitchen.

A few days ago I had my first afternoon tea since moving to Newcastle, and what a tea it was.

Lovely Kate had got herself a voucher for two to have tea at The Biscuit Factory, and being the super sweet thing that she is, she invited me along to enjoy it with her.

We had champagne.

And loose-leaf tea. I went with Lapsang Souchong.

And sandwiches (including cucumber, thankfully, since I consider cucumber sandwiches to be a non-negotiable in an afternoon tea).

And scones (cherry, with jam and clotted cream).

And some rather lovely pistachio-based pastries.

And all on a beautiful sunny day, with a stunning view over Byker and Gateshead and other bits of the Toon. Industrial, but in a very charming kind of way.

Factory Kitchen afternoon comes with a ‘highly recommended’ star from moi.

In summary: sunshine and tea for a good end to June.
