surrounded by clouds

On the first study morning.

This year the week is going to begin with study, and so far so good, as today, the first available Monday of term, Phoebe, Sam and I met together at The Basement Coffee House at 9 o’clock for some theology fun (Intro to Systematics for them and Prayer for me).

I was supposed to be reading Calvin’s Institutes, but made the fatal error of misreading the syllabus and so lugging the wrong volume into town with me (can I point out that Calvin’s Institutes are not insignificant in weight). That’s what’s commonly known as an error. Thankfully I’d also brought ‘A Praying Life’ by Paul Miller, due to be on the study programme for next week, so my morning wasn’t wasted at all. Hooray.

Phoebe and Sam worked very hard, with two breaks (consisting of brief table-football games as a reward). Sam won both games, but it seems like this may be a year-long score card, so perhaps the tide will turn in Phoebe’s favour one day soon.

In summary: good beginnings.
