Carol service number two arrived today, courtesy of Northumbria Christian Union, complete with lovely organ, multiple carols, piles of mince pies, some cheery international students, and our very own, Hamish, to preach from Luke 1 and Zechariah’s prophecy.
This wee song has become one of my new favourite parts of Luke’s gospel this year, with this awesome picture of the promised Christ on His way:
“The sunrise shall visit us from on high to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace”
Luke 1: 78b-79
Hamish painted the picture wonderfully, and it was a joy to be reminded of the gospel once again.
Also, Durham CU posted this awesome photo from last night’s carol service, complete with some words from ‘O Little Town of Bethlehem’. That particular carol was the last one that we sang yesterday evening, and as he was finishing his talk Michael read out the words and encouraged listeners to join with him in making it their prayer. Such a great invitation.
In summary: more gospelly goodness.
