A little bit of today was spent in 2 Corinthians 4.
“We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies.”
2 Cor. 4:8-10 [ESV]
I find these to be some of the most joyous words going, despite the fact that there’s affliction, and perplexity, and persecution, and being struck down, going on.
Because despite all of those things, there’s no crushing, or despair, or forsakenness, or destruction.
Because Jesus has borne it all.
He was crushed. He was driven to despair. He was forsaken. He was destroyed.
What good news. And the best news, of course, because though he was destroyed, no measly grave could hold him.
O death, where is your sting? O death, where is your victory?
1 Cor. 15:55 [ESV]
In summary: reminded to rejoice.
